From Jeans to Dreams: Upcycling For Education
Tax deductible
We are upcycling old and discarded denim into new, durable, and fashionable school bags for financially challenged students in rural Nepal.
It costs us $5 to upcycle a bag that will last forever. It takes 4 pairs of jeans to make a highly durable bag pack. We are planning to upcycle 200 bags immediately!
With this project we are not only supporting quality education needs of students in Nepal but also saving the environment and advocating for sustainable and conscious fashion.
Here are some stats that may astonish you!
- 10,000 liters of water is used to make a pair of jeans as per UN.
- Every second, a garbage truck full of textile is dumped in our landfills.
- Around 1.2 billion pairs of jeans are purchased every year.
- Less than 1% of material used to produce clothing is recycled into new clothing
We are here to flip the story in the best way possible. We have partnered with schools, colleges, universities, financial institutions, restaurants, and community partners to collect old jeans and so far we have collected 1046 pairs of jeans and we plan to upcycle each of them into school bags that will support educational journey of students in Nepal.
Here is what we've achieved so far:
- Collected 1046 pairs of old jeans
- Upcycled 412 pairs of jeans
- Donated 103 upcycled bags
- 41.2 million liters of water saved
- 618 kgs of denim waste prevented from being dumped in landfill
