The lack of diversity in therapists, and more particularly, the lack of black therapists is not a new problem. There is a growing need for therapists who can understand the cultural family dynamics as well as the racial tensions that black people have to navigate daily.
On Feb 22-23, 2020 we had an in-person counselling pop up called “From Invisible to Visible” in the Toronto area and it was a success, now we want to share the experience with others in the community by offering virtual ongoing therapy to individuals and families who are "sick and tired of being sick and tired". Join us as we support one another to make a lasting change.
"Due to the recent events that have impacted the world,many have reached out for support and we don’t want to have anyone left behind so in response we would be grateful for your help. We believe therapy can offer an integrative approach for healing in a meaningful way."
The funds will be used nationwide for individuals and families to begin ongoing therapy with professional and qualified visible minority therapists. This is just a start and will help begin to address the years of historical oppression that at times can seem invisible and offer individuals a chance to stand up to the pain and frustration that impacts our mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing.
