From Inpatient to Inspiration: Help Me Build a New Beginning
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Freya. For the last two years, I’ve been an inpatient in a mental health hospital. I’ve lived every day trying to get through the dark — through fear, hopelessness, and the feeling that I’d never be part of the world again. But now, after everything, I’m slowly finding a way back.
This isn’t a story about being “cured.” It’s about discovering something worth fighting for — a sense of purpose, of possibility. That purpose is this: I want to create a children’s activity centre that’s about joy, belonging, and mental wellbeing. A place that I wish I had when I was younger. A place where every child — especially those who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or “different” — feels safe, welcome, and free to be themselves.
And I need your help to make it real.
Why I’m Raising Funds
I’m working with my dad to buy and transform an existing children’s activity business in our local area. It has amazing equipment, and huge potential — but we want to reshape it into something even more powerful: a community space focused on inclusion, kindness, and care.
We’re working towards raising £100,000 in total to make this project real. That amount will let us buy the business, train staff, transform the space, and open the doors to a whole new kind of activity centre — one that’s inclusive, calm, joyful, and community-led.
But right now, we’re starting small — and focused. This first goal of £7,500 will help us cover the essential early steps:
- Business registration costs
- Business planning and safeguarding advice
- Financial and legal due diligence
- Branding, design and early marketing
Raising this first amount will give us the tools to launch our bigger campaign with confidence, and show funders and backers that people believe in us.
Every single donation now helps lay the foundation — and means the world to me. This centre is more than a business. It’s part of my recovery. It’s the first time in years I’ve felt like I could build something good — not just for me, but for others too.
Why This Matters
If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t fit in as a kid… If you’ve ever watched your own child struggle with anxiety or depression… If you believe in second chances… Then maybe you’ll understand why this means so much to me.
I’ve spent the last two years cut off from everything. Now, I’m dreaming of a place full of colour, laughter, safety, softness, movement, art, and understanding — a place I can help lead, and where children can just be children.
How You Can Help
Donate — every single pound brings us closer.
Share — please pass this on to anyone who might believe in it.
Believe in me — that’s something I never thought I’d ask for, but I am now.
Thank You
If you’ve read this far, thank you. Whether you can donate, or just carry this story in your heart — I’m deeply grateful.
This is hard to write. I’m still healing. But for the first time in a very long time, I have something I want to step into, not away from. And I’m hoping others might step with me.
With all my heart,
Freya
