From Incarceration to a Bright Future
Donation protected
Hello, everyone! We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support on behalf of Reginald “Reggie” Dugue, who has faced immense challenges on his journey towards self-improvement and a better future. Reggie was unfairly labeled as the ring leader of an incident and faced numerous charges, ultimately taking a plea for each one under the state's jurisdiction. Despite these obstacles and serving 17.5 years in prison, my son has shown incredible dedication and determination during his time behind bars. He is now dedicating himself to educating others on their Human Rights.
Reggie’s story is one of resilience and a burning desire for personal growth, while also believing that the ultimate goal would be to help others not fall into the unfortunate predicament that he came across in his very young life. While incarcerated, he has achieved the following milestones:
1. **Educational Achievements**: Despite the challenges of incarceration, Reggie has successfully completed a para-legal program at Black Stone Career Institute, earning a certificate for a two-year program. Additionally, he has earned both an Associate's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree from Bard University.
2. **NYS Certification for Deaf Interpreter**: Reggie has earned certification as a Deaf interpreter, highlighting his dedication to serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
3. **Debate Team**: Reggie is an esteemed member of the prison debate team and has engaged in debates against prestigious institutions such as Duke University, Harvard, West Point, and Cambridge. His involvement showcases his strong communication and argumentative skills.
4. **Critical Thinking Classes**: In the Health Department, Reggie participated in critical thinking classes, specifically focusing on understanding the differences in thinking patterns between teenagers and adults. His dedication to analytical thinking versus reactive responses demonstrates his commitment to understanding the root causes of certain behaviors.
Reggie is now ready to take the next step in his life, but he needs support to secure his basic needs as he transitions back into society. Your donation will go towards essentials such as housing, clothing, food, transportation, and other immediate needs that will enable him to start anew with confidence.
Reggie will be working with United for Human Rights, an international, not-for-profit organization dedicated to implementing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, educating youth and adults on their rights for the betterment of al Mankind. He will help his community understand the basic rights and freedoms to which all human beings are entitled, including the right to life and liberty, freedom of thought and expression, and equality before the law.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in Reggie’s life. By supporting this campaign, you're not only helping him rebuild his life but also giving him the chance to make a positive impact on society. Reggie’s goal is to also help increase awareness within the Human Rights Campaign, as well as continue his work to assist economically disadvantaged deaf or hard-of-hearing.
Join us in giving Reggie the fresh start he deserves. Together, we can help him reintegrate into society and work towards a brighter future. Your generosity can make all the difference.
We thank you all.
Sincerely,
Lindia Dugue
