From Heartbreak to Hope: Raising Awareness for Ectopic Pregn

What began as a light-hearted Covid experiment—growing my hair—turned into something far more meaningful. By October 2023, my hair was shoulder-length, and when my wife surprised me with the happiest news—we were expecting our first child—I made a promise: I’d cut my hair after 12 weeks once we knew the pregnancy was all good.
But within days, joy turned into heartbreak. After initial pains and spotting, we were wrongly advised that my wife had miscarried. We tried to stay strong, but her pain worsened. Despite repeated calls for help, we struggled to get support until one urgent call led us to A&E. After hours of waiting, doctors suspected an ectopic pregnancy—a condition where the fertilised egg implants outside the womb, which can be life-threatening.
Days later, my wife’s fallopian tube ruptured, causing internal bleeding. In that terrifying moment, having her survive was all that mattered. Thanks to swift action and incredible medical staff, her life was saved. The cause? Likely linked to contraception, raising serious questions about advice and care for women.
Two years on, we’ve been blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Now, I’m finally cutting my hair—not just to fulfil that promise, but to raise awareness and push for better guidance and treatment for families.
This fundraiser isn’t just about hair or charity—it’s about reforming a system to reduce risks, protect lives, and support mental and physical health during one of life’s most important journeys.
