From Heartache to Hope: Help Us Rebuild Our Lives

Hello, my name is Stacey Drummond,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share a deeply personal story. The property on Jones Road in Frankford, Delaware, has been in the Hall family since 1946—a place full of rich history and cherished memories. Over the years, it has become more than just land; it represents a legacy, a bond between generations.

After the passing of our last elder relatives in the 90s, property taxes went unpaid for over two decades. In 2021, I made the difficult decision to use my hard-earned savings to pay off those taxes in full, hoping to protect the legacy that means so much to me and my family. Trusting a family member to help finalize the deed, we began the legal process to transfer the property. But, in a heartbreaking turn of events, once their name was on the deed, everything changed.

For the last two years, we’ve been fighting an exhausting and expensive legal battle to hold on to what we’ve worked so hard to save. Despite having receipts, documentation, and undeniable proof of the sacrifices we’ve made, the law isn’t always on the side of fairness. We have until December 31, 2024, to vacate the home, and it breaks my heart to even write those words.

As a mother of three, my greatest worry is for my children, who will now have to endure a painful transition. This season, instead of planning holiday traditions or vacations, I’m desperately trying to secure a roof over their heads. I’ve learned a hard lesson about trust, but more than anything, I’ve been reminded that family and health are what truly matter.

I never imagined asking for help, but my family’s future is on the line, and I need to put my pride aside. If anyone has information on rental properties or could extend a small donation to help us through this tough time, we would be forever grateful. Every bit helps as we work to rebuild and find our way forward.
