Support Betiel : A Promising Cyclist Starting a New Chapter

Betiel is an 18-year-old cyclist from Eritrea who has recently been granted refugee status in Belgium. At such a young age, she has already achieved remarkable success, including winning the African Junior Women’s Time Trial Championship in 2024. But beyond her results, Betiel stands out for her determination, discipline, and deep passion for cycling.

For Betiel, cycling is more than a sport, it is her ambition and her future. Now, as she begins a new life in Belgium, she hopes to continue pursuing that dream.

After being introduced to Betiel through the Red Cross, the Brussels Big Brackets Cycling Club and its community quickly recognized not only her talent, but also her strength and resilience. As a club, we are committed to supporting her as she rebuilds her life and returns to structured training and competition at a high level. Our goal is to welcome Betiel into our community, providing guidance, stability, and encouragement along the way.

Thanks to the generosity of one of our members, Betiel already has a bike. We are now working to ensure she has everything else she needs to train and compete properly. This includes essential equipment such as cycling clothing, a helmet, a heart-rate monitor, access to a gym, and other training support.

Together, the Brussels Big Brackets community is raising funds to give Betiel the tools she needs to thrive, both as an athlete and as a young person starting over in a new country.
