As a Veteran Owned Small Business, I created Slushy Box ATL, a youth workforce program that gives at risk youth the three things they often lack most:
Opportunities. Structure. Purpose.
Our mobile slushy unit allows youth to earn income, learn customer service, gain job experience, and stay connected to positive adult mentors. But we have outgrown — and aged out of — our current setup.
As a Army Combat Veteran with over 22 1/2 years of service to our country and my community, I have made the commitment to ensure that our citizens are safe and that our youth have positive pathways to success.
THE PROBLEM: Our mobile unit is extremely limited to community outreach due to its unique design and mobility.
Right now, Slushy Box ATL operates out of:
- tiny 8×10 shipping container
- mounted on a trailer
- powered by a loud gas generator
- difficult for young workers (ages 18–24) to maneuver driving
- unable to reach many community events
- mobility challenges in Atlanta traffic and commuting to rural spaces
This limitation means fewer shifts, fewer youth served, and fewer community events we can attend.
THE SOLUTION: An electric youth workforce vehicle
We are raising funds to purchase a 2025 GMC Brightdrop 600 Series (Electric Vehicle) to replace our current shipping-container trailer.
This EV vehicle will:
- provide a one of a kind mobile workspace
- allow our youth employees to drive legally and safely
- eliminate generator fumes and noise
- electric fleet, optimized technology and sustainability
- maximize the number of community events we can attend
- allow us to operate across ALL Atlanta neighborhoods
- help us expand our Youth Employment Program in partnership with the City of Atlanta
This upgrade will directly impact the lives of dozens of young people every year.
