If you’ve found your way here, thank you for taking a moment to read the Vander Klok’s story.
It’s hard to find the words for something so heartbreaking.
In a matter of minutes, our best friends, our family, lost the home where they were building their life together. The walls that held years of memories, the bedrooms where bedtime stories were read and little feet ran through the halls, the kitchen where family dinners were shared—all of it was taken in a devastating house fire.
By the grace of God, they all made it out safely, and for that we will forever be thankful. But the life they knew changed forever that day.
Their little girl, Swayzie, had just celebrated her third birthday. Her big brothers, Maverick and Kingston, will soon celebrate their fifth birthdays. At ages when the world should still feel safe and magical, they’re instead trying to understand why they can’t go home, why their favorite toys are gone, and why everything they knew disappeared overnight.
As parents, there is no greater heartbreak than watching your children experience something you can’t fix with a hug or reassuring words. While they are doing everything they can to stay strong for their babies, they are also grieving the loss of the place where they imagined watching them grow up.
Home isn’t just four walls and a roof. It’s first steps across the living room floor. It’s birthday candles, Christmas mornings, scraped knees kissed better, family movie nights, bedtime cuddles, and the comfort of knowing you have a place where you belong.
Now they are faced with the unimaginable task of starting over from nothing.
Every donation will help provide the essentials they urgently need—clothing, shoes, food, toiletries, temporary housing, household necessities, and eventually the pieces that will help them build a home again. More than that, every gift is a reminder that they are not facing this impossible journey alone.
If you’re unable to donate, we completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser, praying for this family, or simply sending words of encouragement can make a difference.
They have always been the kind of people who show up for others without hesitation. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.
A fire may have taken their home, but it did not take their family. It did not take their love, their faith, or the community that surrounds them. Together, we can help lighten this unimaginable burden and remind them that even after the darkest days, hope can still be found.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, every share, every donation, and every act of kindness. Your generosity will help this family begin the long journey of rebuilding—not just a house, but the place where new memories will one day be made.
