As I’m in my final year of Primary School Teaching, I’m looking forward to sharing my skills and knowledge and gaining a true insight into a different culture, way of life and teaching methods.
What is the Froebel-HOPE Teacher Partnership?
HOPE is a non-profit organisation which works with street children in Kolkata born into extreme poverty to help save them from a life of abuse and neglect. Since 2009, the Froebel Department of Early Childhood and Primary Education have partnered with the Hope Foundation to create the Froebel-HOPE Teacher Partnership. This year, 40 newly qualified teachers are travelling to Kolkata for five weeks. The partnership aims to strengthen teacher education in HOPE supported education projects in Kolkata, India, through workshops on and modelling of Froebelian teaching methodologies which we will plan and hold. The partnership aims to aid in the development of education in Kolkata by catering to the needs and wishes of both the teachers and the students.
