The South Rose Hill/Bridle Trails Neighborhood has been an accommodating host to the Houghton Transfer Station since 1964. We have been assured by the county for decades that the station was scheduled to be closed and relocated in Northeast King County to serve the growing population in that area as the newly expanded Factoria station now serves our area's needs.
Instead of following through to close and relocate, the county is now considering the existing park abutting the Transfer Station for an expansion at this location. We know the park sits on a capped landfill with previous Superfund Site designation.
After reaching out to city and county officials and receiving no response to our concerns, we have taken action to hire an attorney to represent our neighborhood.
At this time we are collecting funds to mount a robust legal defense. Any funds raised that are not used for legal funds will be used for park improvements at the Taylor Fields site.
Your support in this matter would be deeply appreciated. This neighborhood has had enough of promises, we need this matter resolved.

Thank you.
