Friends of Sandown Park are fundraising to support participation in opposition at the planning inquiry relating to the proposed development at the north ends of Sandown Park and Blackhurst Lane in Tunbridge Wells.
The group (in agreement with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council) is opposed to the plan because of the significant negative consequences for the area, including:
1. Substantial increase in traffic levels at the already severely congested intersections of Blackhurst Lane with Sandown Park and Pembury Road;
2. Substantial harm to existing green belt and an area of outstanding natural beauty;
3. Doubling the population of the Sandown Park / Blackhurst Lane community with no material increase in infrastructure (health, transport or schools); and
4. Substantial construction related disruption and safety concerns for the entire neighborhood, including in particular Skinners Kent Academy
