Friends of Riverside Park Shediac

Our group, Friends of Riverside Park, has been working to reopen the access to water on the Scoudouc River since March 2022. We have recently discovered that the land providing this access to water, often called “Pellerin Wharf.” is a portion of the land deeded to the town of Shediac as part of what is called Webster Park. Yet, the Town Council and the Town Manager have refused to accept their responsibilities related to the indenture (contract) signed and sealed by Mayor Joseph Landry along with Barrister and Town Clerk J. Paul Theriault on January 30, 1962.

Our short-term fundraising goal is $30,000, which will be used for the following:

1. Prepare a legal case mandating the Town of Shediac to take responsibility for their inheritance as stated in points 1 -10 of the indenture and reopen the access to water.

2. Mandate the Town of Shediac to request a Certificate of Registered Ownership (CRO) for deed 238029 and move it to the NB Land Registry to remove any other possibility of individuals claiming any portion of the lots included in this parcel.

With your generous support, we'll be able to reestablish access to the water of Scoudouc River, safely used by the citizens of Shediac and their friends for over 80 years. This will ensure that future generations enjoy this privilege "in perpetuity", as the indenture clearly states.

Francais - Notre groupe, les Amis du parc Riverside, travaille à la réouverture de l’accès à l’eau sur la rivière Scoudouc depuis mars 2022. Nous avons récemment découvert que le terrain donnant accès à l’eau, souvent appelé « quai Pellerin », est une partie du terrain cédé à la ville de Shediac dans le cadre de ce qu’on appelle le parc Webster. Pourtant, le conseil municipal et le directeur municipal ont refusé d’accepter leurs responsabilités liées à l’acte signé et scellé par le maire Joseph Landry ainsi que par l’avocat et greffier J. Paul Thériault le 30 janvier 1962.

Notre objectif de collecte de fonds à court terme est de 30 000 $, qui seront utilisés pour :

1. Préparer un dossier juridique mandatant la Ville de Shediac pour assumer la responsabilité de leur héritage tel qu’énoncé aux points 1 à 10 de l’acte et rouvrir l’accès à l’eau.

2. Mandater la Ville de Shediac de demander un certificat de propriété enregistrée (CRO) pour l’acte 238029 et de le transférer au Registre foncier du Nouveau-Brunswick afin d’éliminer toute autre possibilité pour les particuliers de réclamer une partie des lots inclus dans cette parcelle.

Grâce à votre généreux soutien, nous pourrons rétablir l’accès à l’eau de la rivière Scoudouc, utilisée en toute sécurité par les citoyens de Shediac et leurs amis depuis plus de 80 ans. Cela garantira que les générations futures jouissent de ce privilège « à perpétuité », comme l’indique clairement l’acte.
