Friends of Naoko
A fund to support the Tohari Green family to go away for a short break
Why have we created this fundraiser?
Naoko approached her life and the people around her with such a gentle and positive spirit, always ready to chat and have a laugh. Kind, cheerful and occasionally mischievous, Naoko rarely (if ever) complained at work, or during her two-year battle with a rare form of cancer. She faced her illness with fortitude and grace, remaining interested in others and appreciating the little things in life.
We will miss Naoko. The world has lost someone special, someone who left the world having made it a much better place.
Naoko leaves behind her husband Mike and their daughters, Hannah and Maya. During such a difficult time for Naoko’s family, we’d like to support them in some way.
So we’re asking for contributions, however small, to help fund a short break for Mike, Hannah and Maya.
They’ve spent the last two years moving between home, hospital, and hospice, and are now facing up to life without Naoko. Hannah and Maya are expecting to do their A-Level and GCSE exams this year. Being able to get away for a few days would offer them all a much-needed break and change of scene.
What are we aiming to achieve?
Can you help us raise £1000? This will give Mike and the girls the flexibility to choose where and when they want to go, and what they want to do.
To give you an idea of what the money might fund for the three of them, a long weekend stay in the UK, including meals out and travel, might cost from £500. Or a city break abroad might cost from £900, including travel.
All money raised will go to Mike, Hannah and Maya, even if we don’t reach our target.
How can you help?
If you’d like to help, any contribution you can make would be deeply appreciated and used well. It will go toward easing the stress and burden of bereavement for Naoko’s family.
And if you’re willing, could you also share this page with friends, family, and the wider community? This will help us reach our fundraising target to enable Mike, Hannah and Maya to have the short break they need.
To help get the word out, you can share the link in an email, to your Facebook Timeline, Instagram, or other social media.
Thank you.
