James Hodge is widely known as Mr. Community Activist. He has dedicated his life to fighting for the voiceless and empowering the most vulnerable in Long Beach. As Chairman of the LB MLK board, he has worked a countless amount of hours to fight for a better future for our entire community.
After Superstorm Sandy devastated Long Beach, James catapulted into action and helped set up an aid distribution center at the MLK. While his support existed way before Sandy, it was since this time, that he put 150% of his energy and personal finances into helping the community. As he was busy helping everyone else, he neglected his own needs, putting his own affairs on the back burner. Now almost six years since Sandy touched our shores, his home has not been repaired. A home that has been in his family for decades and was left in his care by his parents.
Let’s do something about it!
A group of friends have come together on his behalf because he is not the type to ever ask for anything from others. We have created this fundraiser and are reaching out to those he has touched to help get him back into his house. He has a financial hardship as a direct result of the tireless and unwavering effort he has put into keeping the doors of the MLK open and having acted as a resource for so many people in need. At this time, he is in need of any support by way of money and in-kind, donated construction, architectural, or general contracting work.
Anything you can give to help us reach this goal will be greatly appreciated. James has been advocating for marginalized people for a long time and devotes his entire heart to this community. Please show up for him by helping when he needs it most. If you cannot give, please share at least once a day.
