It’s the 2025 season at everyone's favorite choss pile, Echo Canyon!
A sad and upsetting update: In November we secured a donation of 40 railroad ties for use as retaining walls at Soul Train and Clint Eastwood. That's three and a half tons of RR ties we moved from Ft. Bridger WY to Echo. Those RR ties were worth $1200 and we spent an entire day and another $300 for a rental truck to move them to the crag. They were neatly stacked and secured for the winter. We were anticipating starting work this month, but, THEY WERE ALL STOLEN!
Yes, some shithead went through the trouble of stealing over three tons of material from us. Can you imagine?? Along with taking a little bit of our faith in humanity, this grand theft sets this project back a ways.
Don't worry, we are not defeated, but we do need your help. We are now going to have to purchase these materials at the market rate in order to fulfill our mission of making permanent and secure upgrades to the base area. We have already put thousands into this crag in the form of bolts and anchors, but we won't be finished until this is a safer and more comfortable place to climb.
No donation is too small and every penny collected here will literally go 100% into the crag. You've probably already see our work in the form of perma-biner anchors ($28/set), replaced bolts and erosion control. The SLCA has generously helped with some hardware discounts but at the end of the day, it's cash that makes it happen.
The biggest work is yet to come so please - you're on your phone now, you're here to climb so show Echo Canyon some love and support!
thanks, John and Dan
