Aloha mai kakou!
I am a single mom of 5 on the island of Kaua'i. Recently I was advised that our rental is being sold and was asked to vacate by Sept 25th. I have been trying to find a place for my ohana but it has been difficult. Not long after I was told about the rental the island of Kaua'i was impacted by Hurricane Lowell. With many people being out of homes it has become even more difficult to find a rental.
I have applied at every rental and apartments as I could but many have a 1 year wait list. And those that are available immediately are all way above what we are able to afford
Thankfully our hale was not severely damaged but unfortunately my vehicle has sustained some type of damage
Due to being on a single income it has been a really difficult last few months and even worse last few weeks with the hurricane changing the timeline and circumstances tremendously
My ohana and I are in need of any assistance we can get. But especially housing and vehicle repairs. I know this is a VERY difficult time for everyone especially those of us on Kaua'i so I am not expecting to get a lot since everyone is struggling and resources are limited.
Anyone who knows me personally knows I am NOT one to ask for kokua. I have always been the strong mama who takes care of not just my own keiki and loved ones but everyone else. I have been trying to manage but have reached a point where I just can't do it on my own financially. And with the housing situation now I just wanna give up
Like I said, I am not expecting a lot of help financially. My main concern is finding a place for me and my keiki and repairing the vehicles since they are our only means of transportation. So if you have somewhere or can refer me that would be such a huge kokua
Unfortunately I do not receive rental assistance, financial assistance or even child support so any kokua would be HIGHLY appreciated. Even just sharing and praying would be more than enough right now
Me ke aloha pumehana
Sunny Onikiniki, Ululani, Kūlia, Pōki'i, Makalapua and Kaikea
