INNOCENT BRITISH TEEN ILLEGALLY HELD IN EGYPT

Teenager Muhammed Fathi Abulkasem, is an innocent 19 year old from Manchester, England, who has been wrongly accused and is being held without legal representation in Alexandria, Egypt. He is due to be sentenced for collecting intelligence against the army in Egypt because he took a photo from the plane as he landed in Alexandria airport on a visit to his friends. His full story is here:

This GoFundMe is authorised by Muhammad's family and will be fundraising towards his legal representation which can be even more costly as the case is in a different country.

While media exposure and awareness is important, having the finances to access good legal representation could be the difference between freedom and false imprisonment for him. Muhammad is currently without any representation and is facing further hardship being unable to communicate to the outside world.

This crowdfunding has been created for his legal fees under the management of his cousin Shareen Nawaz, and the full raised amount will go to him and his family's struggle to get him freed from his false imprisonment. Legal fees will far surpass what is raised here, but if by any chance there are donations left over, they will be donated to charity.

A petition has been shared with over 2,500 signatures and will be for the attention of Theresa May.

It has now become a case of the Egyptian National Security and his family are appealing to local MP's to urge the Foreign Minister to step in.

His mother, Imaan Rafiq said "When I close my eyes at night, I can’t think about him. I have to put a blank wall because I cannot imagine him in there, I just want to hold him. He always gave me morning hugs, and when he came back [home from school] he gave me hugs. So I always had my two hugs a day." Whilst cousins of Abulkasem have stated "he is a soft and compassionate person.”

His harrowing story has gained the attention of news outlets such as BBC news, Manchester Evening News and The Sun.
