Freedom & Reentry Fund for Janet Carter

UPDATE: Since her release last March, Janet has transitioned into living in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, she is now facing potential housing instability. We need help to secure funds to ensure she has a safe, secure place to live.

Janet Carter just came home after serving 25 years at the Central California Women's Facility. While she has a safe, supportive place to live, she paroled with very little and needs help as she enters this new chapter of her life. The funds raised will be used to purchase essentials for Janet's daily life.

I have been working with Janet since 2019, and she finally secured her release from prison after years of advocacy. She is an elder, uses a wheelchair for mobility, has survived cancer, and has Parkinson's and early stages of dementia. You can read more about her story here.
