I spoke to Selena's family and they have been told they only have to pay 10% of the $20,000 ($2,000) in which a majority of this GoFundMe helped raise money for. Any additionals funds raised went to the family for any legal costs. At this time the GoFundMe has ENDED and has STOPPED. Thank you everyone for your support for Selena!
I spoke to Selena's family. Selena has been RELEASED! BUT currently her and her family have to make a $400 payment in two weeks and after that, it’s $300 every thirty days until the remainder of the bail is paid. She is still being charged, and so if charges are dropped and the bail amount is dropped, any additional funds up to the date charges were dropped will go to the family for legal costs, etc.
Hello all, I have contacted the family members of Selena Lechuga who is in need of posting the $20,000 set bail amount after she was arrested while defending the 18-year-old, Bethany Renee Nava, who was violently harassed and dragged off the Metro subway by a police officer at MacArthur Park Station in Los Angeles. Police arrested Bethany for simply having her foot on a train seat and arrested Selena for standing up for Bethany against the police brutality.
Please donate to Selena and her family to get through this injustice! All proceeds go to Selena and her family.

"Selena Lechuga, a local chef and vocalist, was also arrested for trying to defend Bethany. Bethany has been released and is due in court on February 15th. She was taken to a hospital with a sprained wrist and some contusions following the incident. Selena was held in jail with a $20,000 set bail for allegedly spitting on the officer (after she was arrested) and now LAPD is charging her with "assault and battery."
While Selena has serious charges set up against her that should definitely not qualify as assault or battery, there have been no actions taken by LAPD to address the obvious abuse of power by the officer with badge #5203 in the video. Instead of de-escalating the situation and doing their job, LAPD is showing how easy it is for police to criminalize anyone, especially people of color. This is unacceptable. "
Please donate whatever you can to help Selena and her family get through this injustice.
