“Free My Son: Innocent and Jailed Over a Lie”

Kristopher Thompson is a 21-year-old from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He's a son, a big brother, and a loving, kind-hearted young man who deserves a future not a prison cell.

My name is Ebony, and I'm the mother of a 21-year-old Black man who is currently sitting in jail not because he committed a crime, but because of a lie.

In 2018, when my son was only 14 years old, a murder took place that he had nothing to do with. Now, 7 years later, in 2025, his current girlfriend who wasn't even in his life back then went to the police and claimed he was present during the murder.

That's false. She wasn't there. She didn't even know him in 2018. But based on her completely unfounded accusation, my son is now being held behind bars.

This is a heartbreaking example of how easy it is for our young Black men to be caught in the claws of a system that doesn't ask enough questions. There's no physical evidence, no witness testimony from 2018

- just one person's words, said 7 years after the fact.
