This community project is dedicated to increasing access to feminine hygiene products for unhoused and low-income individuals in our area. Menstrual products are a basic necessity, yet they are often inaccessible to people experiencing homelessness, financial instability, or housing insecurity. While some places do distribute these products, living in a rural area means there is a lack of transportation, especially among the unhoused, making access even more difficult. Many shelters and outreach programs do not consistently provide these items, leaving people to go without or improvise in unsafe and undignified ways. Access to period products is a matter of health, dignity, and equity, and no one should have to choose between food, shelter, and basic hygiene.
The goal of this project is to install Little Free Library–style, weatherproof boxes in high-traffic, accessible locations throughout the community. These boxes will be stocked with pads, tampons, pantyliners, wipes, and other menstrual care items and will be available free of charge, no questions asked. Funds raised will be used to build or purchase durable, weatherproof distribution boxes, purchase feminine hygiene and menstrual care products in bulk, and maintain and restock the boxes on an ongoing basis. This project is rooted in mutual aid—neighbors helping neighbors—and is supported by local organizers and community partners.
This project provides free, 24/7 access to feminine hygiene products through weatherproof community distribution boxes placed in high-traffic areas for unhoused and low-income individuals. Every contribution helps create sustainable, community-based access to essential care items and directly supports people who are often overlooked. Your support can make a real difference—thank you for helping us bring dignity and health to our neighbors.
