Free healthcare initiative in Anomabo, Ghana

In March 2024, I will join a team of volunteers from the US and Ghana for Mensah Global Health's annual free healthcare initiative in Anomabo — a fishing community near Cape Coast in southern Ghana.

I will be volunteering as a project manager providing logistical and organizational support to 50+ healthcare volunteers (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, students and technicians).

Mensah Global Health, a subsidiary of Vida Darko Mensah Foundation - a 501(c)3 organization, was founded in 2019 to provide free health care to underserved communities throughout Ghana.

The initiative will be held daily March 18-22, 2024 at a local clinic in Anomabo from 7am - 5pm. Free medical care for community members of all ages will be provided such as screenings and treatments for diabetes, hypertension, malaria and other infectious diseases. Dental, eye, OBGYN and mental health services will also be offered. To enhance health literacy a daily educational series will be held focusing on treatment and prevention of diseases such as malaria, hypertension and diabetes. Medical supplies and equipment will also be donated to the clinic.

The 2023 Anomanbo Health Initiative treated 2300 people. The goal for 2024 is to treat 4000!

Mensah Global Health has an overall $30,000 fundraising goal for the 2024 Anomabo Health Initiative. I'm hoping to personally fundraise a minimum $3500 in donations to contribute towards the larger goal.

Your donations will help cover medicine, medical equipment and supplies as well as accommodation, local transportation, and food for all the volunteers.
