On Sunday the 11th of May I will be running the Rob Burrow Leeds marathon in the aim to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a challenge I have always wanted to complete and this year it makes sense to finally go for it.
I am undertaking this specific Marathon due to the significance of it's location on my late Grandad, Barry Ackrill.
Barry was a lifelong Leeds united fan and had run for the Yorkshire boys in his youth, continuing his love of running all the way into his later life. As I also attended University in Leeds, it seems a fitting place to take on this challenge.
Grandad B was someone who was loved by everyone and his passing last summer after losing his battle with cancer was extremely difficult for his family and friends alike. Macmillan Cancer Support were excellent in such an emotional time and provided key support and care to help ease the hardship felt by the family. Hence my decision to raise money for them to help other people get the same support they need.
Any and all contributions are appreciated and please share the page if you can.
Thank you in advance,
Fred Walton
