Fred and Elsbeth are competing in the 2025 Philadelphia Marathon on November 23rd to raise money for Uryadi's Village in Soddo, Ethiopia.

Fred and Elsbeth started running together in early 2024 when Fred was recovering from ankle surgery. They have competed in 10K and half marathons together but this is their first full marathon.

The Goltz family visited the Village in December 2018 at the invitation of the founder Jennifer Fill Crooks. Uryadi's Village is home to 100 orphaned and vulnerable children, many who have unique developmental and medical needs. The permaculture-based village in Soddo, Ethiopia offers each child a loving, family style home, reliable clean water and sanitation, sustainably grown and nutrient rich food, excellent medical and therapeutic care, and effective educational opportunities.
