Hi everyone it’s me again!
Firstly, we’d just like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who supported me last year while I did the Great North Run to help raise funds for Sophia’s 1st session at the Footsteps Physiotherapy centre.
Sophia completed her first 3 week course of intensive physio in January and we can already see a massive difference & improvement in her strength. She is starting to bare weight on her legs now and is SO SO CLOSE to sitting independently.
This year I will be running the London Landmarks half marathon all in preparation for the big one…the Leeds marathon! This will be my first full marathon and I won’t lie I’m a little nervous
Gabriella and I hope you can support me in raising enough money to help us send Sophia back to Footsteps for another 3 week session. As previously mentioned, we can already see such a difference in her from just one course! And so we would love to be able to continue helping her reach her full potential and our ultimate goal TO SEE HER WALK!
With your support we know she can do this!
⭐️SOPHIA’S STORY⭐️
Sophia was born in January 2020 just before the first lockdown.
She spent 5 weeks at home before being rushed into Grimsby hospital after she had stopped breathing.
As she was suffering from pneumonia, and not responding to any medication she was taken to Sheffield Children’s where she was placed on a ventilator in intensive care. She spent the next 6 months battling chest infections, sepsis, open heart surgery and seizures.
It was at 3 months old when we learnt that Sophia suffered from a rare genetic disorder called 1p36 Deletion Syndrome, that affects only 1 in 5,000-10,000 births.
We were told that Sophia may never walk, never talk and would need 24 hour care.
At 7 months old she finally came home and has been making strides ever since. She attends a mainstream nursery 3 times a week, goes horse riding, swimming, and loves to eat cake!
Gabriella has chosen to give up work in order to care for Sophia and make sure she is receiving the best treatment possible. However, private therapies are not cheap which is why we are asking for your help!
We are determined to prove the doctors wrong and see our little girl walk one day!
