Franks PedALS Wheelchair Van: Mobility Support for ALS.

I have dedicated 20 years in research, working on how vital organs develop, or how cells become cancerous.

In April 2023, I was diagnosed with ALS. A huge shock for me, my family and friends.

Since that day we decided to dedicate our energy to make a difference. As team Franks PedALS (Positive Energy Dueling ALS), we have raised close to 1 Million Euros for ALS Foundation Netherlands. A huge effort, that will lead to a cure for ALS in the future. For me, this will be too late, but as a scientist I am hopeful that we are getting closer to a cure.

Now, I want to raise funds to improve mobility for people living with ALS. There is a huge shortage in wheelchair adjusted vehicles, and thus a long waitinglist for people living with ALS. Time is precious for them, they have no time to wait.

I am lucky to have had early access to such a van. With this van I am able to make unforgettable trips and memories with my wife and young kids. I wish more people living with ALS and their families can use such vehicles.

In collaboration with the Dutch ALS On The Road Foundation (affiliated with ALS Foundation) I want to secure funding for 1 wheelchair van.

To have 1 vehicle on the road costs are 35,000 Euros. To drive it will cost 5,000 Euros per year.

For 7 years, several people living with ALS, can benefit from a fully paid vehicle. My goal is to raise 65,000 euros.

If you wonder who will drive it first? It will be my wife, Yvonne. We and our two boys want to make more trips and more memories using the new Franks Pedals Van.

And when I die? The Franks Pedals Van will be a memory on the road and will go to the next person living with ALS, so they can make trips & unforgettable memories with their family and friends.
