The story of Coronavirus is evolving everyday for all of us and we hope and pray this is behind us very soon.
In the meantime, we wanted to do what we can to help stop the spread so we decided to offer Free Face Coverings.
Our family lives in Plainview (Long Island, NY).
Please note, this was written 'off the cuff' on 4/7 and we will try to update whenever we can on this platform but primarily we communicate through Instagram and Facebook (@garage68ink)
It is unbelievable what's going on and this past Saturday, we decided to take action and start making face masks or 'face coverings' as we are now calling them according to the CDC website. Please note these are not medical grade but possibly can help STOP the spread which sounded good to us!
Local deliveries throughout our town as well as surrounding areas have started already. Many packages where shipped to New Jersey and requests have been received as far away as Florida. We want to thank Amy Hochberg @ahsolutionsllc who has been helping organize and distribute these throughout her community in N.J. and beyond.
These are all handmade from 100% cotton material (we are trying to keep them all bandanna material, but it is hard to believe that America is almost out of bandannas.. but that is a true story)
We will continue to try and source these material as well as alternate materials, as needed and we want thank, Fabric Mill (Plainview, NY.) for their donation and willingness to help.
In fact, as I am writing this, a friend Cathy Fox @cathyraph dropped off many bandannas and off course we kept our distance!
As of today, we have distributed about 250 since we began this endeavor with about 500 more confirmed. The list is getting longer by the day and we have been contacted by families, drs, nurses, first responders and businesses.
Our goal is $1500 and we appreciate ANY contribution that can be made. This money will help pay for materials and shipping and when this ends (and it will), we will donate 100% of the remaining money to a related charity.
We promise to do the best we can and to keep everyone updated.
