CULTURE + RESILIENCE + WELL-BEING
11/26 update: We did it! Together, we raised enough to purchase turkeys for Ramapough Turtle Clan families - eskerrik asko! Thank you! We continue to work together with Indigenous leadership towards Indigenous food sovereignty, access to covid supplies and basic needs, cultural renewal, and land return. Please continue to support by following our work, sharing, and/or donating. Thank you <3
Ramapough Turtle Clan turkey update! We are raising funds until noon Wednesday 11/24 to purchase turkeys for Turtle Clan families to enjoy on Thanksgiving. Once we hit $7,500, we will have raised the amount we need (much of this has already been used in the past year for covid emergency response and food sovereignty). We can do it!
We are asking you to support the essential work of Four Directions Mutual Aid ( website and Facebook ). Four Directions formed in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina. Now we are collaborating with a wide range of groups to provide culturally competent, grassroots mutual-aid that supports Indigenous communities on Sewanhackey/Long Island, NY and surrounding areas during the COVID19 pandemic. And in the spirit of mutual-aid, Indigenous communities are asking how they can support our work in return!
When you support Four Directions, your donation is making a difference in three key areas:
1) Masks for the People is providing quality homemade masks and mask making supplies to Indigenous communities and other vulnerable communities. Your donation helps us purchase and transport materials and masks where they need to go!
2) Emergency Supplies are needed now and your support is helping us connect food, toiletry, and other items with Indigenous families and communities. There is incredible competition for resources right now and we need the ability to get items to communities in need right away.
3) Enhancing Food Sovereignty and expanding individual and community gardens to promote the growth of culturally centered foods and medicines. Your donation helps us get tools, seeds, and other materials to Indigenous communities whose resiliency and sovereignty is enhanced by controlling their own food resources.
Did You Know? 100% of your donation goes to project expenses (minus Go Fund Me's small fee) . We have no salaries and our accounting is fully transparent! Help us keep the good work going!
