I am Paul Snaith and I am a Birtley Community Pool volunteer.
I am taking on an extraordinary fundraising challenge this summer to support the charity that has been at the heart of his life for many years. A long‑standing and dedicated swimmer at the pool, I will swim four iconic Lake District lakes, covering nearly 30 miles in open water to raise vital funds for the community‑run facility.
My ambitious “Four Lakes Challenge” will see me complete:
· Derwentwater – May (3.5 miles)
· Coniston – June (5.5 miles)
· Ullswater – July (7.5 miles)
· Windermere – September (11.5 miles)
I wanted to give something back to the charity that has supported my health, wellbeing, and love of swimming for so many years. “I have been using and swimming at Birtley pool most of my life from the late 1970s right the way up to it closing in 2022, also having been the last swimmer out the water on its final day....So as a volunteer at the new and improved Birtley community pool I just wanted to give something back to a place that holds a lot of memories”
I am encouraging local residents, swimmers, and supporters to get behind my incredible effort. Donations of any size will help the pool continue offering accessible swimming and community programmes. To support me and Birtley Community Pool please make a donation and share my challenge with others.
