Fountain Cemetery, located approximately a mile north and 2 miles west of Bushnell, has not been properly maintained for several years. It has become overgrown with weeds and lilacs have taken over half the cemetery. Many headstones have deteriorated to the point that they are unreadable or broken off and need to be restored. It is our hope to clean up and maintain the grounds, fix broken bases and headstones, and if the archway cannot be found, to commission a new one. If possible, we would add a shed to store maintenance items and to keep the cemetery presentable. There are Civil War Veterans and other local notable residents from the Bushnell area buried there - and they deserve better than this.
