Dear Students, Parents and Members of our Educational Community,
I am pleased to inform you that a beloved member of our Poly and RUSD community, Jim Clover, is being honored by the American Diabetes Association and the Father’s Day Council, at their annual Father of the Year awards celebration. For those of you who may not know, Jim worked at Poly for years teaching and serving on site as our athletic trainer, helping to keep our community of student athletes “safe and in the game”.
Jim has educated many of the trainers who currently serve our student athletes and he continues his work for our school district as well as several others, treating injured athletes, free of charge to their families. Jim has worked tirelessly for years, often at ridiculous hours, dispensing physical therapy and hope to thousands of kids while diverting their attention with a welcoming smile and barrage of “one liners” that challenge the mind to keep up with his razor sharp wit.
In addition to honoring four great fathers in our community each year, the Father of the Year event serves to raise much needed funds for diabetes outreach programs and research. A Poly student has brought to my attention the thought that if every student or parent who has been positively impacted by Jim, and wishes to acknowledge their appreciation, could donate $5 (or even $1) we collectively have the ability to make our mark on this important event that will help many of our own students and community members who suffer from this debilitating disease.
To purchase tickets to attend the event on May 24th or if you'd like information on sponsorship, please visit: www.diabetes.org/fotyjimclover
The American Diabetes Association is a certified 501c(3) organization; American Diabetes Association, Inc. EIN: 131623888
