Beating the Odds by HARD WORK
Donation protected
It would be hard to be motivated if the world labeled you as a 97% chance for failure. THE STATS SHOW LESS THAN 10% OF FOSTER KIDS GO TO COLLEGE, BUT ONLY 3% FINISH! Justin Davis is beating the odds! Having no family to fall back on or depend on has been something that has not stopped Justin from pressing forward towards his goal, a COLLEGE DEGREE IN CRIMINOLOGY. He is a Junior at Mississippi State University now, scheduled to graduate on time in the Spring of 2018!
Justin has been given the chance this May, to go to Spain and attend abroad studies for his Spanish 3 credit. He has had so much self discipline and determination to work hard in his studies. I am so happy to share with you that Justin is on the DEAN'S LIST AGAIN!! He has always thought his grades are so important and has had great grades!
I am Wendy Herring and I have come along side Justin when he needs help with life things. Justin was raised in DHS custody since the age of 3. I met him when he was in a children's home and when he finished High school, and left the children's home he was on his own.
Can you imagine your child going to college and not having a family to fall back on or to encourage them or even move them in? Could they make it on their OWN??? JUSTIN DOESN'T ASK US FOR MANY THINGS AND WHEN HE DOES, I KNOW IT IS IMPORTANT TO HIM, SO I TRY MY HARDEST TO DO WHAT I CAN TO HELP HIM! This money is for the course, airfare and other things needed to get him to Spain and his Spanish 3 credit. I will oversee the money and it will be used for this college educational course.
I was telling someone the other day, how great Justin was doing and I was so proud of the young man he is becoming. Why do I help him? I just say, if my children didn't have a family, I would hope SOMEONE would love them enough and help them when they needed the help!
For a person who has only left the state of MS a few times, getting this opportunity to study abroad would mean the world to him!
I'm thankful Justin is not listening to the world, He is pressing on forward towards his goal!
