Foster parents, flooded apartment
Donation protected
We call them the “Hobbies,” and they won’t give up on fostering, but they need help to recover from a sewage pipe explosion that flooded their home. They’ve been married 3 years, have a biological 2-year-old, in January received their first set of foster siblings (4 and 6 years), and 9 months later these defenseless kids are blossoming in their loving, Christ-centered, stable home.
To better accommodate the changes, the Hobbies sold their home of 2 years and rented a town home in hopes that life would finally settle down and allow them to focus on these little kids. Two weeks after moving, they returned from errands to find a sewage pipe had flooded the townhouse. The rental has massive wall/cabinet/flooring repairs; much of their furniture, children’s clothing and toys must be replaced; they must pay the large rental and insurance deductibles; they must pay double rent and their temporary housing must still meet foster care requirements. It will total about $10,000 out of pocket for them to keep fostering, as they are required to have very specific living situations for the children.
Why they don’t give up fostering? They could. It would make life easier to skip all the extra foster agency requirements. But the kids are worth fighting for. The Hobbies choose to do hard things so these little children don’t have to experience more trauma. Please consider donating to help keep them together in a home.
