Update Nov 2025 - We expect to be starting a fundraising campaign soon! Please see the updates section for more detail.

The Friends of Stratfield Brake formed in 2022 to oppose Oxfordshire County Council's (OCC's) proposal to allow Oxford United Football Club (OUFC) to build an 18,000+ stadium and associated commercial development on Stratfield Brake and/or the Triangle.

Residents in Kidlington and the North Oxford area say that a stadium in the 'Kidlington Gap' is unacceptable. This Green Belt land is not included for development in the local plan. OCC's proposal is completely against both local and national planning policies.

Stop the Stadium
Cherwell District Council have approved Oxford United Football Club's (OUFC) planning application to build a large stadium and hotel on a green belt site close to a quiet residential area.

Keep the Kidlington Gap Green!
The Kidlington Gap stops Kidlington, Gosford and Water Eaton from being absorbed by Oxford City. Much of the Gap has already been lost to allow Oxford City’s expansion. Over 2,000 homes are going to be built in the immediate area and over 4,500 are planned in total for the wider area.

The County Council purchased Stratfield Brake and the Triangle specifically to maintain the gap between Kidlington and Oxford. This publicly owned land is precious resource for the local community and must be protected against development.

We will campaign to oppose a stadium on the Triangle and other local Green Belt sites for as long as it takes!
