Support the campaign to protect Stratfield Brake
The Friends of Stratfield Brake (FoSB) are campaigning to keep Stratfield Brake green and under community control. This incredible community asset provides open recreational space, grassroots sports and a community venue for hire. Massive housing development planned for this area means that this treasure is needed more than ever. Stratfield Brake is one of our last remaining green belt sites. It is a highly valued green space that links neighbouring nature reserves and towpath walks. Many visit and enjoy it daily.
Now all this is under threat.
Oxford United Football Club (OUFC) want to build a large (18,000 seater) stadium with associated commercial development here. This proposal is utterly inappropriate for a green belt site in a quiet residential area. The Club have already spent vast amounts of money and has appointed "a world-class project team” to try and force their plans through.
FoSB speaks for everyone opposed to the stadium
Stratfield Brake is not for sale. It was bought for the community by the community and is managed for OUR benefit. Most local people are appalled by OUFC's plans. The views of those who want to protect Stratfield Brake must be heard and respected.
FoSB vs OUFC's PR machine is like David vs Goliath
We need your support. Residents need to be made aware that the stadium is not "a done deal" and that our parish councils can decide to keep Stratfield Brake in public ownership. We need funds to raise awareness that residents need to SAY NO to the stadium. Together we can keep Stratfield Brake out of the grasp of OUFC's professionally run, off-shore funded land acquisition machine.
Please help us raise £3,000 to continue our campaign to protect Stratfield Brake.
