The funds for "Forge Her Shield" will be going towards a trauma-informed empowerment initiative that provides women with the tools, training, and community support they need to reclaim their strength, safety, and self-worth through Self Defense.
Our mission is to provide a space for women to reclaim power, learn real-world skills, and heal through strength, community, and courage. Through workshops, mentorship, and movement-based programs, we offer a holistic path to transformation: physically, emotionally, and psychologically.
Blending combat skills, self-defense, athletic training, breathwork, and healing practices, The Medusa Project is a space where survivors become warriors.
Founded by Brittany Byrnes, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt, and fitness coach. Witnessing sexual harassment and assault firsthand, Brittany began Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2019 to reclaim her own power and strength so that she would be better prepared for anything in the future. Through her passion in coaching and helping other women feel capable of their own strength and potential, she wants to build a community of female fighters, and help victims of assault reframe their mindset through resilience and evolution in strength - alongside other powerful women to coach women as well
Funds donated will be put directly back into the project so that we can provide self-defense classes for women at a low cost; donations will provide us the ability to spread our message, purchase quality equipment for our classes, such as mats, pads, and gloves, and provide sponsorship to any women who cannot afford self defense classes on their own.
