Make Forest Bathing FREE for People Who Hoard
Donation protected
Hoarding disorder is a recognised mental health condition affecting an estimated 1.2 million people in the UK. For those living with it, daily life can feel overwhelming — often marked by anxiety, shame, and isolation. But with the right, compassionate support, it’s possible to create moments of calm, connection, and hope.
That’s why Red Squirrel OT CIC has teamed up with Woodland Wellbeing to run a Forest Bathing taster session for people who hoard.
What is Forest Bathing?
Originating in Japan as Shinrin-yoku, forest bathing is a gentle, guided immersion in nature. It encourages participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and fully engage their senses. Evidence shows it can reduce anxiety, improve mood, lower blood pressure, and boost overall wellbeing.
Why is this especially important for people who hoard?
People who hoard often experience heightened stress levels, decision fatigue, and difficulties with emotional regulation. Nature-based interventions like forest bathing can help quiet the mind, reduce overwhelm, and create space for self-reflection. This session offers an accessible way to experience deep rest and grounding.
Cost:
The event happening in September, costs £450 and we have no current funding. We want to make this experience free for participants, but without your help, we’ll need to charge.
How you can help:
• £10 will cover refreshments for all attendees.
• £20 will sponsor a place for someone who hoards.
• £50 will help cover staffing so we can run the session safely and inclusively.
• £75 will help towards transportation to and from the venue .
Every donation makes a difference — helping us provide a safe, stigma-free space for people to connect with nature, themselves, and each other.
Thank you for supporting this small but powerful step towards better mental health and community connection.
