It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Theresa Marques, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

Just a few short months ago, Theresa was living the life she loved most surrounded by her husband, John, and their three beautiful children, Lucas, Olivia, and Gabriel. Her world revolved around her family. Whether it was a special celebration or simply a quiet evening together, Theresa was happiest when the people she loved were by her side.

In early 2026, at only 50 years old, Theresa was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. What followed was a devastating battle that moved with unimaginable speed. Despite multiple misdiagnoses, an endless hospital stay, countless setbacks, and several cardiac arrests, Theresa never stopped fighting.

While most people would have been focused solely on their own fight, Theresa was still being a wife and mother from her hospital bed, reminding John not to forget his work boots, constantly checking on her children and caring for her family with the same unwavering love she always had. Even while lying in a hospital bed fighting for her life, she remained focused on the people she loved. That was Theresa, always thinking of others before herself.

As the disease progressed, Theresa lost the ability to enjoy the simple things many of us take for granted. She missed her 50th birthday celebration. She endured the inability to eat, hear, and eventually speak. Yet through it all, her strength, courage, and determination never wavered. She fought with everything she had because she loved her family with every part of her being.

On Friday May 29th the unthinkable became a reality.

John has lost the love of his life and partner in everything. Lucas, Olivia, and Gabriel have lost an extraordinary mother whose love and guidance shaped every part of their lives.

What breaks our hearts most is knowing that three children will grow up missing the unwavering love, guidance, and presence of the mother who loved them beyond measure. There will be graduations, birthdays, holidays, weddings, and countless milestones ahead. In just a few short weeks, Olivia will celebrate her elementary school graduation. It is heartbreaking to know that one of life’s special moments, a moment Theresa should have been there for will arrive without her by her daughter’s side. Theresa should be there helping her choose her outfit, taking endless photos, and beaming with pride as she watches her daughter cross the stage. Instead, her family will face this milestone carrying both the pain of her loss and the comfort of knowing how fiercely she loved them. While Theresa won't be there physically, her love, lessons, and spirit will forever remain with her children.
