Dear Family and Friends,
Our sweet Kira, who at three years old was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma (GBM), a very aggressive form of brain cancer, went to heaven on February 6, 2023, at the age of 6. She had two brain surgeries, chemotherapy, proton therapy, targeted therapy and so many other medical treatments that a child so young should not have to go through. Most children who are diagnosed with GBM will usually lose their battle with the disease after 12-18 months. But our little warrior was a fighter, despite the poor prognosis, and stayed with us for almost 3 ½ years after her diagnosis.
In the final months of her journey, Kira largely lost use of the right side of her body, her ability to talk and eat and required 24/7 care. Like all parents who are reading this, there is nothing that you would not do to include moving heaven and earth to save your child. The Tran family did the same, and incurred the corresponding medical costs.
Throughout this medical journey, Kira was so brave and courageous. She inspired us to love, to laugh, to believe, to be brave and courageous and never give up. She brought out the kindness and generosity in all those around her.
In that same spirit of kindness and generosity, we have established this fund to help Kira’s family with the medical costs that the family incurred throughout her illness as well as the funeral expenses to lay her to rest. Any monetary assistance will help lighten the financial burden on her family as they mourn her loss and try to continue forward with Kira, only in spirit.
