For Sheridan in Maddies Honor

Donation protected
Saturday the day after the trial I received a Message from Sheridan explaining she was the Ex wife of the man who was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter resulting in the death of Maddie. She expressed she had a deep love for our family and that she was deeply sorry for our loss.  It is with her permission I bring you her story of Domestic abuse and a system that failed her and her daughter Phoebe.

I already knew that the man found guilty was on probation for Domestic Abuse that had occurred one year prior to Maddie's Death. I had thought of Sheridan and her daughter Phoebe many times throughout the year and knew that justice for Maddie also meant justice for her.

Sheridan was with this man for 9 years  married for 7. They had been separated for two years when she decided to move to Boise where he had been living and try one last time to make it work. She quickly learned nothing had changed the drinking the verbal, emotional abuse was still there after 5 weeks she got the courage up to ask for a divorce and then was beaten and strangled November 2016. Not a good way to start the holiday season.

He was charged with domestic battery and destruction of evidence. Basically he beat her, nearly strangled her and then destroyed the evidence on her phone. Later lied in court and was out on 2 years probation where he was to obey all laws. Nearly one year later he made the choice to drink and drive and as a result of that choice we suffer a deep loss of Maddie ...... our Daughter, Mother, Friend, Co parent, Granddaughter, Niece, Cousin, sister and so much more. I can't help but think of how Sheridan must have felt upon hearing this news. She was recovering from the previous years events and about to enter a new holiday season. She now has to explain to her daughter at some point that her dad is now in prison and had killed someone. Not what a mom hopes for her child. Hard to swallow.

in Sheridans Divorce to this man there was nothing she could do to protect Phoebe basically until something happened to her daughter there was nothing she could do. I cannot imagine how she felt when she had to send her daughter to stay with him having no way to protect her daughter from the dangers of alcoholism.  Thankfully for her he did not ask to see his daughter more than a couple times.

Since the divorce she has received little of the child support he was ordered to pay. Which really disturbs me given the high priced lawyers he had defending him against the vehicular manslaughter case.

After the tragedy she faced with the domestic abuse she moved in with her parents to rebuild her life. She is going to need to move out on her own the first of the year and I would love to help ease the stress of being a single mom on one income working 40 hours a week and balancing work, home and quality time with her daughter.

Every holiday for the past 5 years or so Maddie would rally family and friends to sponsor kids in need. If you plan on helping and giving during this holiday season please in Maddie's honor consider helping this mother provide for her daughter as they have both suffered in this tragedy along with us and before us. After two holidays of suffering I would love to provide Sheridan and her daughter some SUPER POWER CHEER! I will be donating a large portion of the money I raised for Cheer Campaign in my Yoga class dedicated to Maddie last Sunday to them to get this started. We would love for you to donate if you can. If you want to get me a gift but don't know what to get me this is what I want. Thank you!
