Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe! My name is Helen and on Saturday, 19th September I will be "taking on the tower" and abseiling 164 ft down Wakefield Cathedral.
I'm taking on the challenge to raise money for my youngest brother, Rob.
In 2022, Rob was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It quickly transpired that Rob was already very ill, and in the couple of years following the diagnosis, he underwent tens of rounds of chemotherapy, and had two major surgeries.
In 2024, Rob was given the unimaginably crushing news that the cancer had spread, and he had at best a year, and at worst, just a few months, to live. He was only 27.
Most recently, Rob took part in a clinical trial, which was the beginning of the longest sustained period of stability in his health since the initial diagnosis. However, despite the trial working well for him, it was prematurely cut short in October 2025.
Rob's treatment options are limited, and private treatment is the route he is having to take moving forward.
Two and a half years on from the news Rob was going to die, he is still here, and my fundraiser is a small contribution to helping to continue on this trajectory.
It's hard to put into words how Rob and his wife, and my amazing sister in law, Brogan, have dealt with something of this magnitude, that should not happen to anyone, and least of all someone so young. It is quite simply awe-inspiring.
They both have so much life to live and aspirations to see become reality, and they deserve it so much.
If you're able to donate, or share my page, it would mean so much to me. Thank you for reading!
