My name is Aisha, and in 2020 I faced the most heartbreaking decision of my life. At 21 weeks pregnant, due to serious medical reasons, I had to say goodbye to my son. I was lucky enough to have met him and hold him just for a short while. The loss of a child changes you forever, and the journey through grief is something no parent should have to face alone.

This year marks five years since his short but deeply meaningful life. To honour him and what would have been his half-decade milestone, I’m running the Samui Half Marathon.

I’m raising funds for SANDS, a charity that supports families going through the devastating loss of a baby. Their work provides comfort, understanding, and support to parents during one of the hardest experiences imaginable, and much more.
