Hi, my name is George.
Last month, our family received the devastating news of my sister's cervical cancer diagnosis after what was a routine pap smear.
We were grateful to have caught it early on and were optimistic that a quick surgery would get her on the road to recovery.
However, when the biopsy results came out, my sister was hit with the reality that she will most likely need a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation as her treatment plan.
My sister is only 38 yrs old. She is a very loving and caring person. She practically raised me and is a hardworking single mom to a 13 yr old son whom she has had to be away from to be able to support financially.
As if she wasn't blindsided enough by the cancer, she now has to resign from her source of income so that she can pursue treatment back home in the Philippines. Not only is this the more feasible option financially, but also better for her emotionally as she can be with her son and have the rallying support of her friends and our other family members.
I've cried myself to sleep every night since, worrying endlessly on how I can help my sister. It breaks my heart that I cannot rush to be by her side because the best assistance I can provide now is to keep working my full time job here in the UK, hundreds of miles away from her.
Our lives have been turned upside down but I am willing to do anything to help her win this battle - including humbly asking all you kind souls for any amount you can share towards her treatment fund.
Thank you and God bless. Hug each other tight every
opportunity you can ❤
