This is Kate.

A devoted mum to three beautiful kids. A loving partner. A pathology nurse who has spent her life caring for others. An animal rescuer with the softest heart. And one of my closest friends for over 30 years.

Kate, myself (Skai), Mel, and Kylei have grown up side by side — through school, life, motherhood, and everything in between. This year, we all turn 44. She’s not just a friend… she’s family.

On Sunday night, everything changed.

After arriving by ambulance at Cessnock Hospital, Kate suffered a catastrophic heart attack while waiting to be seen. She was without a heartbeat for 3 minutes before being revived with CPR. She was then rushed to John Hunter Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.

Kate is currently in ICU, sedated, surrounded by her family and closest friends who haven’t left her side — all of us holding onto hope, waiting to understand what life will look like for her and her children moving forward.

As we all know, when something like this happens, the world doesn’t stop. The bills still come. The responsibilities don’t pause. And right now, Kate’s focus needs to be on healing — not financial stress.
