FOR BLACK PEOPLE TO HAVE FUN

Hi, I'm Kim (@sista_betina).
I am organizing a cookout for Black People located in Toronto and around, for us to celebrate life being Black and alive. Needless to say, these past few years, the rest of the world has slowly started opening its eyes to the realities Black peoples have been dying trying to tell yall. All this energy of change and uprising in the world has been spearheaded by Black femmes all over the world and while we are strong, resilient and powerful, we also need rest, laughter and tender loving care.
This is why, last year, I organized Black People's Business, a cookout for Us by Us, to gather and affirm each other. I put my personal funds and energy into curating a space for Black people, specifically trans and queer Black people, to be in joy.
With the help of non-Black allies, I was able to raise more than $5000 that was then all redistributed to black trans girls and women in Canada. I believe we can do raise more this year :)
So, that's why I am back again this year with the same formula, the same care and attention towards safety guidelines and the same goals: create a space for Black people to gather with love, food, music and laughter, & to redistribute ALL the funds raised with this gofundme to Black trans girls and women in Canada (after paying my collaborators such as DJs, food catering and location renting)
