It is with unbearable sadness that I write to all of you today. My beloved sister was traveling to Greece and headed to Mallorca, Spain with my nephew who is 4, brother in law and his family. One of the extended family members had unfortunately arrived in Greece with what they thought was a little cold. My sister caught it the last week of May and thought it was just a cold as well. However on friday, June 16th she was rushed to the hospital in Mallorca with chest pain and On Saturday after some testing they said she had a gallbladder infection as well as perhaps pneumonia. They began a treatment of antibiotics. By Sunday morning, her heart began to fail and was working at about 30% and was unable to breathe on her own. They immediately rushed her to another facility where she had to be put on a respirator and after more testing found her to have myocarditis (a severe symptom of Covid that only happens in young people)- she's 38. After a full blood panel, she was found to have Covid and due to the myocarditis, she was put on ECMO (which is basically life support for the lungs). The doctors informed us that the gallbladder infection was not a covid symptom and that she most likely was dealing with gallbladder issues before, thinking she just had normal bloating and some nausea after eating (which she most certainly did). The virus decided to hit her only undetectable underlying condition. That weakened her immune system so that the virus could target what it really wants, the heart and lungs.   

They have done two procedures on her heart and she is still on life support. My parents are there now with her and I am trying my best to get there. breathing.I am writing to ask for as many prayers and donations are welcome as I believe in the power of prayer. She is a strong woman who was vaccinated, always wore a mask and was very cautious about the virus. Unfortunately, her last booster was exactly one year ago. She has the most generous heart and I don't want it to be taken away.

It's taken me almost 20 minutes to write this as my heart breaks with each word and the tears are flooding my keyboard.

Please pray for her. She is my baby sister and I can't and don't want to imagine a life without her. Any donations will be welcomed at this time as it will help my parents to stay in Spain and support my sister and take care of her 4 year old son.
