Fundraiser in memory of baby Jack
Donation protected
My son Jack spent his 57 days of life in hospitals in Dublin before he died in January 2018. He required treatment that could not be provided in my local hospital in Co. Mayo.
Hugh's House Charity helped me so much by giving me a free place to stay in Dublin while my little Jack was fighting for his life in the hospital. (http://www.hughshouse.ie/)
In memory of Jack, I would like to raise funds for Hugh's House Charity. Myself, Shauna Tully, Christopher McNicholas, and Karolina Kala will be running the VHI Women's Mini Marathon for Hugh's House on Sunday, 2nd June 2019.
While staying at Hugh's House, I met lots of wonderful people who were a massive support to me in so many ways. Ade, who set up Hugh's House, and Pat, who helps to run it, were incredibly kind and thoughtful, they even made a fuss of me on my birthday when I was staying there at Christmas. Generous volunteers donated food and cooked for us- it was so nice to arrive back to a good meal in the evenings when I had no energy left after the long stressful days spent in the hospital. Other parents from Hugh's House sat up with me chatting, offering me advice and friendship when I was so worried and stressed that I couldn't sleep. They fed me hearty food when they were cooking, gave me tips on motherhood, lifts to the hospital and looked after me when I was feeling weak and in pain after my cesarean. Hugh's House wasn't just a place to stay, it was a home away from home with people who understand you during an extremely difficult time.
With such high rents and the competition for housing in Dublin, it can be hard to find an affordable place in the city on short notice. Hugh's House needs funding to keep this house going to support families from outside Dublin who find themselves in a similar situation.
I can say from personal experience that Hugh's House is a very worthy charity and the people involved with it are the most genuine people you will ever meet.
We will be sincerely grateful for any funds received in memory of my precious little boy Jack in order to help Hugh's House continue to support these families.
