Hi, I'm Ama Antwiwaa, (aka Nana Ama)

You may or may not know, but I'm
a hood princess from a council estate in Essex
a model student at a top London private school
an economist
a linguist
a mentee
a film production assistant / PA
a creative
a strategist
a mentor
a freelancer
a language teacher
a project manager
an architectural-adjacent person
a nomad
a financier
an enabler
an observer
a journalist
turned anti-disciplinary artist.

After making it through a particularly difficult few years, before I hang my towel up to dry in helping friends / family / partners out of Babylon, I've decided to celebrate life.

On the morning of my 29 birthday, 27 September 2026 I will be running the Vitality London 10km race.

This is a particularly significant milestone because:
  • I've never run a 10k, not even 5k.
&
  • Until quite recently, I never believed I'd live long enough to see this birthday

All these years of traveling and living far from home scratched many heads...

What is it you do?
What did you study?
What next?
Is there money in that?

But I always knew deep down I was in pursuit of love, in all of its forms.

Abusuafuo.
Comunidad.
Ubuntu.

Now I'm ready to slow my roll, slow right down, and pour into the communities that I've been able to lean on when in need, and to tune out the noise and harm of others.

This race is a reminder to myself, and to all who tried to clip my wings.

I was never running away… I was running towards.

Here's to choosing love, every single time.

I'm running for:

1. José & Lucky Morales, mi familia guatemaltelca
2. Davinia, for Vonimo Akpedeye Inije
3. Eyram & JK, for Garden of Afruika
4. Nana Yaa, for Kwasi Anim-Boadu (aka Junior / Lavish)
5. Ananya, Shor Series
6. Niyanta, for playte
7. Aisha & Abby, for Yellwzine
8. Seung Sing & Aisha Seriki, fellow night-schoolers and cheerleaders
9. Barbican Young Film Programmers 2021-2022 (Including Suzy, Vania & Mide!)
10. Khadija Saye, who was tragically killed by neglect in Grenfell in 2017, who's death made way for me to step up to the mantel and rise from the ashes as a photographer for my first ever photography project, Plait's Princeses & Pink Moisturisers.

There are so many other names of spirit guides and helpers and artist people to thank.

I hope you know who you are.

There are so many abusers to call out.

I know you know who you are.

So, why now? after all this time?
After a visit the late artist Noah Davis' first retrospective exhibition at the Barbican in May 2025, with my dear friend Ann-Marie Ekuban, tickets sponsored by my dear flatmate and the truest artist I have ever lived with, Isabel Kitty Hills, something clicked in my brain.

Since then, I decided to choose LOVE over hate + fear every time I can.

The ~£10k I hope to raise, will to be divided into equal parts for the above people and collectives as a small token of gratitude to support their work / practice.

Para mi gente. En todas partes.

Please share near and wide, join me in my run. Walk, wheel, crawl, or meet me at the finishing line - at Buckingham Palace.

Where I will look at the golden gates, with gold stolen from my ancestors, and I will say, despite it all; meda so te ase (I am still alive / living)

On August 29 1997 a princess was killed in Paris.

On September 27 1997, a princess was born in Redbridge, London.

~The Abrokyere Dream~
