For A Ray of Sunshine! Colleen Poliseno

I am a coworker and longtime friend of Colleen’s. Colleen is a seasoned Corrections Officer who has dedicated herself to this profession for the past 14 years.

For anyone who knows and or have met Colleen you know that she is the true definition of A ray of sunshine!

She is dedicated, hardworking and has always been one to pay it forward. She is one not to mistake her kindness for weakness. She will give you the shirt off her back and wants nothing in return.

For Colleen everything is always great! She is never one to complain or to ask for help. So with that said we are asking for her.

Sadly Colleens career has been cut short. She has sustaining debilitating injuries following a 2021 vaccination that she has not been able to recover from.

Effective July 2022 it was official that Colleen would be medically retired. So we all thought.

Working for the Commonwealth is not always as efficient as one would think.

In short it takes approximately 4-6 months to start receiving your retirement income.

In late November 2022, Colleen was doing her due diligence on her impending benefits and it was discovered that the administrative paperwork that our Department submitted on her behalf was improperly filed.

As a result, this has left her to restart the process. She has not had a paycheck since May 2022 and no longer has health care benefits. As we all know health care is expensive with coverage, but without it, astronomical! She is in the process of trying to secure any assistance she can, but that’s a process as well.

To add insult to injury, Colleen and her husband Patrick were already in the midst of a 4 year battle, fighting for his pay & health care benefits due to a severe work accident which left Patrick permanently disabled. Ultimately leaving Colleen as the sole provider since 2018.

Colleen and Patrick are work horses, so as you can imagine this is an extremely difficult time for them. We are hoping that this fund will generate some extremely needed assistance to help them through this difficult time.
