Fund FoodCommune's Storage Shed - Thank You Jo!!

Kicking off FoodCommune’s JULY FUNDRAISER!

Please help us pay $9,500 for our refrigerated storage shed that a beautiful supporter, Jo, had provided to us in an emergency in the spring of 2024.

This game-changing addition to our Candler Road property is putting affordable food on a lot of tables here in Atlanta, GA, USA!

The dual problem of

1) too much food waste, and

2) rising food prices

is wrecking our society!

FoodCommune, part of the growing Food Cooperative movement, works to address this dual problem by both

1) reducing food waste, and

2) making food affordable for families here in Atlanta.

We make these two results happen on a weekly basis by rescuing food that would otherwise be wasted (from grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, and underfunded charities with more food than they can responsibly distribute) and then getting this food into the hands of struggling families at pennies on the dollar.

Refrigeration and storage facilities are of critical importance to every food enterprise, and our freegan food co-op called FoodCommune is no exception.

In April of 2024, we were entrusted with a $9,500 wholesale storage shed on faith. This shed is great: 12x16 = 192 sq ft, metal, wired for electricity, and cooled by a window AC unit in these hot summer months!

We have been making great use of this shed to store food, ever since Jo had it delivered to our property last spring! Now, we need to repay Jo for this important contribution of hers before starting on our next important step in this mission.
